Manitowoc Lighthouse Has Great Majesty

by Janice

One of the most popular sites with our bed and breakfast guests is the Manitowoc Wisconsin Breakwater Lighthouse. It doesn’t seem to matter when the photographers go out to shoot, the lighthouse offers a solid grandeur. She always reminds me of one of those 19th Century matrons looking upright and competent. Fortunately, she doesn’t mind having her photo taken. Most of the photographers seem to prefer dawn or sunset shoots, but if a storm is brewing on Lake Michigan the effect can be very dramatic.

The walk to the Breakwater Lighthouse is about a half a mile. Usually there are lots of people fishing and boats coming in and out of the marina. And usually a lot of wonderful birds like the Great Blue Heron.
